LAMASUS Modelling Portal

The LAMASUS Modelling Portal is one of the key outcomes of the project. It hosts the LAMASUS Land Use Modelling Geodatabase and Policy Databases, provides access to models, visualizes data and scenario output, and enables feedback on data and pathway to support policy making.

Portal Components

  • Data Repository – Hosts project data and provides automated access through an API (via Zenodo).
  • Model Repository – Contains ex-post and ex-ante models and source codes, and documentation on how to update scenarios and run projections (via Gitlab).
  • High-resolution LUM Geodatabase Validator –Visualizes interim modelling results from the LUM Geodatabase and offers an interface for standardized feedback. This tool is used in Stakeholder Workshops to assess the accuracy of the data (via GeoWiki).
  • Data and Scenario Explorer – A web-based interface for visualizing national and supra-national time series data and long-term scenario outputs. It also allows users to select and download content from the Data and Model Repositories.
    • The public version of the LUM Geodatabase Explorer has been developed to visualize and download LUM Geodatabase data at NUTS3 and 100m resolution.
    • A separate public LAMASUS Data Explorer visualizes key data layers (also available through the Data Repository). Additional datasets will be added in 2026.
    • The Scenario Explorer is available through the IIASA Accelerator. LAMASUS partners and several other Horizon Europe projects are using the beta version for model validation after registration.
    • The public Scenario Explorer with final pathways will be released toward the end of the project.
  • Land Policy Dashboard – Displays aggregate data and model projections on policy-relevant maps at high resolution (NUTS2 and country-level). The Dashboard is designed to support interaction between modellers, policymakers, and stakeholders during roadshows in four case study countries: Austria, France, Norway and the Netherlands. The beta version of the Land Policy Dashboard was presented at the EAAE conference in 2025. The final dashboard will be launched during the LAMASUS roadshow in early 2026.

Validation efforts

  • Data validation – Validation activities are described in individual data deliverables (LAMASUS public deliverables). External stakeholder validation efforts are ongoing, including: Picture Pile (LUM Geodatabase validation).
  • Pathway validation – Stakeholders and Policy Advisory Board members provided input to the scenario design in 2025 and will review the pathway results during workshop 4 (Stakeholder meeting reports) and PAB meetings (PAB meetings summary reports).
  • Land Policy Dashboard validation – Development feedback was received during the EAAE conference. Additional testing and feedback will be gathered during the 2025 LAMASUS annual meeting from Policy Advisory Board members. Further feedback will be collected during roadshows through online surveys.
