LAMASUS Research Presented at WCERE 2026

On July 1, 2026, Raja Chakir (INRAE) presented at the World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists (WCERE) 2026.

The presented study explored how climate change has reshaped land use across Europe between 1990 and 2018. Going beyond the traditional focus on agriculture, it examines changes across agriculture, forestry, urban areas, and other land uses using high-resolution satellite data. The findings show that climate change has driven around 10% of observed land-use changes in Europe over the past three decades, with significant regional differences.

The research highlights the importance of considering interactions between multiple land-use sectors to better understand the economic impacts of climate change and support informed policy-making for sustainable land management.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to share some of the latest LAMASUS research with the international environmental and resource economics community and to exchange ideas with researchers from around the world.
