LAMASUS participation in a clustering event organised by the European commission
On September 25, 2025, LAMASUS participated in a clustering event organised by the Research & Innovation unit at DG Agri and the European Research Executive Agency (REA) (European commission).
The event featured 4 European projects – ACT4CAP27, AgEnRes, BrightSpace, LAMASUS and Tools4CAP – and allowed exchanges between researchers and policy makers on:
– How innovative data and modelling tools can support sustainable agriculture and rural development.
– Insights on research results, policy needs, and future directions for agricultural and food policy.
– Strengthening collaboration between projects and policy makers, ensuring science-based solutions will inform upcoming frameworks, including the next Common Agricultural Policy (post 2027).
Contribution of the LAMASUS project
– Petr Havlik (IIASA), Principal Investigator of LAMASUSA, presented the recent perspective paper “Sustainable Agricultural Sector: A Key Component of EU Economic Prosperity and Security – An Economic Modellers’ Perspective”
– Olaf Heidelbach, member of the LAMASUS Policy Advisory Board, shared how this perspective paper impacted the new CAP discussions
– Tamás Krisztin (IIASA), scientific coordinator, gave an overview of the LAMASUS project, highlighting a set of exploratory scenarios tested in the frame of the project:
- payments for soil carbon-enhancing practices (GLOBIOM),
- organic 25% target (CluMondo/CAPRI),
- impact of the EU Biodiversity Strategy in forests (G4M/GLOBIOM).
