LAMASUS at the 35th Annual Conference of the Austrian Society of Agricultural Economics (18 September 2025, Graz, Austria)
We are pleased to announce that embers of the LAMASUS consortium will attend the 35th Annual Conference of the Austrian Society of Agricultural Economics, in Graz, Austria to present recent outcomes of the project.
Petr Havlik from International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and Principal Investigator of LAMASUS will open the day with a plenary talk titled “Sustainable agricultural sector: A key component of EU economic prosperity and security”.
In his presentation, Petr Havlik will highlight the outcomes of the recent perspective paper jointly authored by the Horizon Europe projects LAMASUS, BrightSpace, and ACT4CAP27. The paper underscores the vital role of a sustainable agricultural sector in ensuring the EU’s long-term economic prosperity, environmental health, and geopolitical resilience.
This is a perfect timing to reflect on the progress, one year after the first release of the Draghi report, which inspired the work on the joint paper.
Verena Kröner from University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) will participate in Session 1: Modelling, chaired by Franz Sinabell (WIFO), with a talk: “Modelling trade-offs and synergies of agricultural adaptation and mitigation in Austria”.
In her talk, Verena Kröner will explore the trade-offs and synergies of agricultural adaptation and mitigation in Austria, with a focus on nitrous oxide (N₂O) emissions from cropland and grassland production. She will present how, using an integrated modelling framework, the work showed how adaptation and mitigation measures, such as crop rotation, fertilisation strategies, tillage, and land use changes, can jointly support the transition of agriculture towards climate neutrality.
