
Information for applicants
Join us for the 2025 LAMASUS / BrightSpace Summer School: June 2-6, Laxenburg, Austria
The application period is open till February 28th, 2025.
Your application should include:
- A motivation letter stating your motivation to participate in this program, including your prior applied experience with land use modelling, how the course fits in your current studies / work, as well as your plans to use models in future research / work (1 page maximum)
- A concise CV that reflects your education and relevant experience (2 pages maximum)
Our selection committee will review all applications. Criteria include the requirements as well as the potential benefit to the applicant. Successful candidates will be notified by March 21st, 2025. The summer school will take place June 2 – 6, 2025. The number of participants is limited to 25.
Course Fee
The course fee is covered by the LAMASUS and BrightSpace projects. The LAMASUS / BrightSpace summer school covers all training activities, lunches, coffee breaks, and a welcome and final dinner. The project has availability for up to 25 applicants.
The course fee does not cover travel and transportation, accommodation, other dinners or fees related to visa applications. The LAMASUS project team can support applicants by providing suggestions related to not-covered logistics questions.
About IIASA
The summer school will be hosted at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). IIASA advances systems analysis and applies its research methods to identify policy solutions to reduce human footprints, enhance the resilience of natural and socioeconomic systems, and help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. At IIASA we employ experts and highly cited researchers in systems analysis from over 50 nationalities from around the world.
IIASA is located 15 km south of Vienna in Laxenburg, Lower Austria. The commute from Vienna to Laxenburg will take 40 to 60 minutes (depending on the location of your accommodation). We recommend staying near the Vienna Central Station “Hauptbahnhof” as public transportation from there to IIASA via bus will take approximately 30 minutes, one way.
IIASA is based in Schloss Laxenburg, a former imperial palace.
